The Humber

Hot off the desktop I have finished the newest member of the 'Landmark' collection. For all of you who love the humber bridge whether you're local or not, I will be getting these printed and added to the shop. If you're interested in one drop me a message and I'll put you on the list.
So without further ado I present 'The Humber'.

The New Web Store

Hello everybody.

Over the last few months I've been really busy working on the fantastic extension to the Pickle. Namely our cool shop in Grimsby 'Made By'. Its been hard work as im sure anybody setting up a business/shop will tell you but were starting to get a lot more people through the door from word of mouth which is a fantastic and underrated form of advertising. As well as the shop I built a little web shop which served a purpose but was generally speaking pretty pants. Now however I've been busy squirrelling away and have finally launched the new site. Yes you heard correct the new webshop is live and ready for your perusal.

It has a lot more fancy stuff going on behind the scenes including security features as well as new stock and new layout which should make your shopping experience run more smoothly.
So if you're in or around the Grimsby area please feel free to drop in the shop and say hello. However if you can't make it for what ever reason then now you can buy with confidence online and still get all the same cool stuff.

The Shop Cometh

Hi Folks. I'm sure you've all seen me babbling on about moving house recently. Well one of the main reasons for the move was because we managed to find a property with a shop space to expand the business to a new level. We have now got the green light on the shop which is attached to our house and will be starting work on it at the beginning of April. Until now everything has been a little hush hush as we didn't want to tempt fate too much, but now its official. The new shop will be called 'Made By' and will stock all the clumsy pickle range as well as a whole host of other items we have been working on over the last few months. About 95% of everything in store will be hand made or designed by us and will be unlike anything else in the area. There will be an online shop as well so if you're not around Grimsby and can't get to the shop then you'll still be able to buy all of our range via the wonders of the internet.
The twitter account and facebook page are running now so come and say hi I'll keep you posted of all the upcoming news.

Sci-Fi Landmarks

Not content with making Landmark prints of local towns and places of interest I have decided to branch out into the realms of the not quite so real. So far I have made a couple of my favourite Sci-Fi locations but there will be more to follow. One of my all time favourite books is Frank Herbert's Dune and what could be more iconic than the desert planet itself Arrakis.

Does the second need any more of an introduction than
'Take your stinking paws off of me you damn dirty ape'

I have many more sci-fi and fantasy locations in the pipeline and will happily take suggestions in case there are any other iconic landmarks I'm missing.

Star Spangled Man

I have another poster idea I came up with a while ago for you today. As I'm sure I've mentioned before I'm a bit of a geek at heart (well a lot really) and I love Captain America. So I decided to come up with something a little different. If you've seen the film then you may recognise the song the Star Spangled Man which is just ace. If you don't know it then here's the video. Crank up the volume and enjoy.

Now there are hundreds of Captain America posters out there with various renditions of the Cap on there. I decided I wanted to do something a little more symbolic. With that in mind here is Caps shield with the lyrics for the above song written in the background. I'd love to get this printed up as posters but slightly scared of the hammer of Marvels (aka Disney) legal department. Until I can sell this idea to them for millions I'm afraid you'll just have to enjoy this for now.

The Landmark Collection

I thought I'd write a little blog post about the Landmark collection which has kind of become my signature work of late. The Landmark pieces started out due to my obsession with Art Deco and fondness for the old railway travel posters. I remembered seeing a poster for near enough every seaside location in the country as well as other tourist attractions. However of all the posters I'd seen I don't remember ever seeing one for Grimsby! Cleethorpes, Skegness, Mablethorpe yes but not Grimsby. Now I'm sure a lot of you don't think of Grimsby when you think iconic seaside towns which is fair enough, but it does however have an incredibly iconic and important architectural feature in the form of the dock tower. So that is how it all started.

Once the dock tower had been completed I decided to start branching out to other Lincolnshire towns. I didn't want to just recreate the old travel posters though so chose to do particular landmarks from the towns, making a bolder image than just pretty beaches etc. With this in mind I chose the first towns based on places significant to my wife and myself.

I have since expanded to other locations and am constantly working on new ones including commission pieces and other interesting places too. So keep an eye on the blog and new ones will be posted as soon as they are done. Also if you are looking for something in particular please feel free to drop an email to clumsypickle@hotmail.co.uk and we can sort something out.

Speak to you all soon

Vintage Life Magazine

Good evening one and all. I hope you're all having a fun January.
I popped into town today to get a few bits and pieces including a copy of Vintage life which my very clever wife www.mrsbebeblog.co.uk has an article in. Also the pickle has an advert in the back which should open things up to a whole new market. You can pick up a copy today in WHSmith and see for yourself. :-)
